We stayed at Rodos Princess Beach Hotel from 15th of September till 22nd of September 2018. We travelled with FirstChoice. After a quick check-in we had been invited to the Dionysos main restaurant for midnight snack. Food selection wasn’t huge, but everything was fresh and tasty, and it was nice to eat a proper meal after whole day of travelling. After our meal we had been escorted in a golf cart to our room by a lovely member of staff.

Room 7101 – executive family room with shared pool & sea view

Our room in Rodos Princess Beach Hotel was located in block 7, on the first floor (room 7101) and we had an amazing surprise, a swimming pool! Our room was a superior/executive family room with a sea view & shared pool. As there were only 2 of us staying in this room we had plenty of space. Our room was located in the quiet part of the hotel, far from the amphitheatre. Bed was very comfortable, fridge was replenished every 2 days with selection of soft drinks and beer, air-con was working fine and there was plenty of space in the room and in the wardrobes. Bathroom had a walk-in shower, 2 sinks, huge mirror and lovely selection of toiletries. Terrace had 2 sun loungers, a table with 2 chairs and access to shared swimming pool. There are only few English channels available on TV, but do you really need to watch a lot of TV during holidays in such a lovely place? Internet in the room was really good, enough to check emails, social media and do the research about the nearby attractions. From our room 7101 we had a beautiful view over the public beach and sea. It’s worth getting up early to see the sun rise. Water in the shared pool was a little bit colder than in the main pool but it was too hot for me to stay on the terrace and sunbathe, so the best option for me was to sunbathe on the lilo in the shared pool 🙂 The terrace was only sunny till lunchtime, after than only shade, but there was still plenty of sun in the pool till around 5pm.

Hotel grounds

There was a short walk from our room to the main Rodos Princess Beach Hotel building. Hotel grounds are beautiful with variety of palm trees, shrubs, flowers and interesting insects. Staff members were working very hard to keep it well maintained.

Main pool

Main pool looks great and we never had any problems with finding fee sun loungers around it. Water in the main pool was quite cold but very refreshing. I really like the palm trees island incorporated in the main pool and around the main pool.

Pool bar, Patisserie, Dionysos & Venus restaurant

The pool bar served delicious drinks, my favourite was Cinderella, and Patisserie served great snacks like ice cream, crepes, waffles and cakes. For lunch you could use Venus restaurant located next to the main pool which was serving very good pizzas, burgers, paninis and pasta. I did prefer to use the main restaurant Dionysos for all the meals just because food selection was better/bigger. Main restaurant served very tasty meals and very good variety of food, everyone can find something delicious from kids menu to seafood. I want to mention that desserts were my favourite. Again I have to mention that all staff members are working very hard and are always happy to help and are very friendly.

Slides and kids pool

I’ve also tested a white slide which is a part of the second pool and it was a lot of fun 🙂 I’m not sure why but there were less people staying around that part of the hotel (2nd pool and slides).

Beach and beach bar

There were 2 ways to access the private beach of Rodos Princess Beach Hotel . You could take the shorter but steeper route from the main pool and use the stairs or take the longer route from the building 7 and avoid the stairs. The beach was made of mixed sand and very hot shingles. The sandy/shingly beach is OK, and the sea was great, warm and crystal-clear water allows you to watch the bottom of the sea and some fish. There is also a beach bar serving drinks and food, water sports centre and diving centre. I have to say that I preferred the pool bar more than beach bar, just because the pool bar was more modern and better maintained, but beach bar was also OK.

Entertainment and other activities

There were plenty of activities during the day at Rodos Princess Beach Hotel, everything from water polo, archery to aqua aerobics, so everyone was able to find something to keep them busy or you could just relax and do nothing 🙂 We’ve only seen one evening show, it was prepared by animation team and it was quite entertaining and funny, especially the burlesque. We preferred to stay at Apollo bar for few drinks because I really liked the interior. We also played a round of mini golf, it was great fun and quite challenging. Remember to use your free 15 minutes treatment at the spa. It was very professional and very pleasant, but treatment prices were quite high, so I didn’t book any additional treatments.

Late checkout was very expensive for our room, ~100 euros but we have been offered the use of courtesy shower during the day which was a good alternative. I’m glad that we haven’t booked the late checkout because the shower was great and free. It’s not only the shower, it’s more like family bathroom with 2 sinks, huge mirror, separate toilet and shower, bench, few shelves and free towels.

Checkout was quick and handled professionally. There is only one downside to Rodos Princess Beach Hotel, the transfer from and to the airport, it takes around 2h on a coach. I would love to come back to this hotel.

Excursions

There is one attraction that you must attend in Kiotari. There is a land train stopping in front and behind the hotel. It takes around an hour to go around the town, beaches and various shopping destinations. It a very relaxing tour and it allows you to see more of Kiotari. An attraction that I have to recommend is Lindos, a beautiful, traditional Greek town with narrow streets, donkey taxis, ancient Acropolis on top of the mountain and with the beach and marina at the bottom of the hill. There is a boat (Lindos by Boat) leaving in the morning from the public beach, located just few minutes away from the hotel. The boat stops at Lindos for few hours, which gives you enough time to explore the Acropolis, the town and have a swim 🙂
